Today, I want to share all about my incredible client, Miss J, and the impact her boudoir session with me had on her journey towards self-love and empowerment.
Miss J's Journey
Content advisory for the following: From a young age, Miss J battled with an eating disorder and grappled with body dysmorphia. She believed her worthiness of love was contingent upon achieving the unattainable notion of a perfect body. Despite years of therapy and participating in several workout programs, she struggled to find love and acceptance for herself. Her mind played tricks on her, distorting her perception of her own physique.
Amidst her struggles, her partner wanted to give her an experience to help boost her confidence. So for Christmas, she was gifted her own boudoir session with me. Miss J shared with me that instead of being scared, she was inspired by my posts and the empowering stories shared. She felt a spark of excitement to begin her own self-accepting journey.
Her Unforgettable Experience
Miss J’s boudoir session was nothing short of extraordinary. Miss J’s pampering experience began with professional hair styling and makeup application, instantly making her feel like a radiant movie star.
While I personally strive to not only capture breathtaking images, I also put every effort into creating an environment where clients feel comfortable and more importantly, safe. As a photographer, I know just how important it is for my clients to be at ease so we can get naturally-flowing images. And as a woman, I know just important it is for women to feel safe in order be at ease and feel free to just be.
So while she was getting pampered, I was able to learn more about her story: her likes, dislikes, insecurities, what she’s looking for in her session… all the topics. Because of this, I guided Miss J into poses that reflected her individuality and made her feel genuinely beautiful, something I ensure to include for all my clients. Her session unfolded with laughter, empowerment, and a celebration of self-expression. We got to share similar struggles, got to “Oooohh” and “Awww” over her gorgeous images the whole time, and had such an amazing time!

The 5th House Boudoir’s Dhiana Skrmetti is an intimate portrait photographer located in Gulfport, Mississippi– fifteen minutes west of Biloxi, Mississippi, one hour east of Mobile, Alabama, and an hour and a half away from New Orleans, Louisiana.
Dhiana’s true mission in life is to help free women from the chains put on them both externally and internally. She believes that all women should be empowered through boudoir photography and let them see what we all see: a gorgeous powerhouse woman with a stardust soul.
